Campaigning to save Harrogate’s Crown Post Office

News that Harrogate Post Office might become a franchise based in WHSmith on Cambridge Street has led to a wave of protests from local people.  Local MP Andrew Jones is campaigning to stop the move.

Andrew’s team is delivering thousands of petitions to local people about the move and has received hundreds of responses to a mass email asking for views.  Andrew’s campaign has been backed by the Harrogate Advertiser.  Now Andrew has won a special debate in Parliament scheduled for 6 November in Westminster Hall.  The debate is on the future of post offices in North Yorkshire.

Andrew commented:  “It is important that we do our utmost to prevent the downgrading of our Crown Post Office.  I want the Post Office to completely take these plans off the table and that is why I need as many people as possible to share their view with me about the proposals.

“The Westminster Hall debate which I have secured is another step forward in that campaign.”
